§ 24.25.020. Emergency snowfall proclamation—Authority of mayor.

  • A.

    Whenever the mayor determines that four or more inches of snow, ice, sleet or a combination thereof has been deposited upon streets within the central business district or that such an imminent deposit has been predicted by the U.S. Weather Service, he may implement the provisions of this chapter in order to facilitate the safe and orderly flow of traffic while expediting snow and ice removal from the streets.

    B.

    Any proclamation issued pursuant to this chapter shall have the force of law and shall supersede any conflicting provision of law during the time while it is effective.

    C.

    In addition to the prohibited conduct described in section 24.25.040, the mayor may impose the following prohibitions and traffic conditions in a proclamation:

    1.

    Advance the hours of operation of traffic regulations which are aimed at the facilitation of rush hour traffic patterns.

    2.

    Prohibit leaving vehicles unattended or otherwise obstructing certain areas during certain times of the day.

    3.

    Arrange for the immediate removal to a place of safety of every vehicle or other obstruction in violation of this title or a proclamation.
