§ 9.48.040. Traffic citations—Authority to void tickets for certain mechanical defect violations.

Police officers are authorized to issue tickets and endorse thereon the word "void" in exceptional cases where in their opinion the best interests of justice are served. This privilege shall be scrupulously granted and only for such vehicle mechanical defect violations where there is no deliberate, continued or flagrant violation, and where there are appearances which indicate that the violation might be unavoidable.
