§ 9.44.040. Visibility distance and mounted height of lamps.

  • A.

    Whenever a requirement is declared in this title as to the distance from which certain lamps and devices shall render objects visible or within which such lamps or devices shall be visible, such provisions shall apply during the times stated in section 9.36.290, in respect to a vehicle without load when upon a straight, level, unlighted street under normal atmospheric conditions, unless a different time or condition is expressly stated.

    B.

    Whenever a requirement is declared in this title as to the mounted height of lamps or devices, it means from the center of such lamp or device to the level ground upon which the vehicle stands when such vehicle is without a load.

    C.

    No person shall operate a motor vehicle with any accumulation of snow, ice, dirt or any other materials on the headlights, taillights or any other lighting equipment that prevents the vehicle from meeting the visibility requirements of this chapter.
