§ 9.14.075. Traffic control signal preemption devices.

  • A.

    Except as otherwise provided in this section, it is unlawful for a person to possess or use a traffic control signal preemption device.

    B.

    This section shall not apply to the operator or owner of any of the following vehicles, when the device is possessed in the course and scope of such person's duties:

    1.

    Official fire department vehicles;

    2.

    Official police vehicles;

    3.

    Official public works or public utility vehicles;

    4.

    Motor vehicles operated by licensed ambulance services;

    5.

    Public transportation buses operated by the municipal public transportation department; or

    6.

    Other vehicles authorized for use of a traffic control signal preemption device by ordinance.
