§ 7.25.010. Purpose and general procedure.

A.

Purpose: The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the disposition of disposable and destructible property that comes into the possession of the Anchorage Police Department.

B.

General Procedure:

1.

Upon receipt by the Anchorage Police Department of property governed by this chapter the property shall be classified as evidence, found, or safekeeping.

2.

Property classified as evidence, found, or safekeeping shall become disposable property as set forth in Section 7.25.030 A., except as otherwise provided in Section 7.25.030 B.

3.

When property becomes disposable property the Anchorage Police Department shall provide notice as provided under Section 7.25.050 and Section 7.25.060.

4.

Disposable property not claimed and retrieved by an owner or finder in conformance with this chapter shall be forfeited to the Municipality as unclaimed disposable property pursuant to Section 7.25.090.
