§ 28.20.040. Notice of election.

  • A.

    The municipal clerk shall give at least two notices of each election. The first notice shall be given:

    1.

    At least 45 days before a regular election.

    2.

    At least 20 days before a special election.

    3.

    At least ten days before a runoff election.

    B.

    The second notice shall be given no later than the day before the election.

    C.

    A notice of election shall state:

    1.

    Whether the election is a regular, special or runoff election;

    2.

    The date of the election and whether the election will be conducted at polling locations or by mail;

    3.

    The hours between which the polling locations or accessible vote centers will be open;

    4.

    The offices for which candidates are to be elected with the names of candidates which will appear on the ballot for each such office together with a statement to the effect that, except in run-off elections, voters may vote for any person qualified for such offices by writing-in such person's name on the ballot and marking the oval or square preceding such written name;

    5.

    The subjects of the propositions which are to be voted upon and where and how to view the entire text of each proposition;

    6.

    Voter qualifications and instructions for registration;

    7.

    Instructions for early voting, voting by mail, and applying for absentee voting; and

    8.

    A description of the precinct boundaries or a reference to their description in the Alaska Administrative Code.
