§ 27.20.090. Chugiak Fire Service Area board of supervisors.

A.

There is established a board of supervisors for the Chugiak Fire Service Area consisting of three persons elected in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. The board shall be constituted and shall function in the manner prescribed in this chapter.

B.

The board's duties and responsibilities include the following:

1.

The board shall oversee the provision of fire services in the Chugiak Fire Service Area.

2.

The board shall oversee and provide for the maintenance and repair of fire service vehicles and equipment on behalf of the Chugiak Fire Service Area.

3.

The board shall prepare and submit an annual budget to the municipal administration and the assembly for approval.

4.

The board shall administer contracts entered into on behalf of the Chugiak Fire Service Area.

5.

The board shall represent the Chugiak Fire Service Area in the use of Chugiak Fire Service Area resources in the delivery of area wide emergency medical services managed by the Anchorage Fire Department.

6.

The board shall oversee the participation of the Chugiak Fire Service Area in intra-governmental arrangements for mutual-aid and other cooperation agreements.

C.

It shall be a priority of the Chugiak Fire Service Area Board of Supervisors to support and maintain Chugiak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co., Inc. as the primary emergency service provider within the Chugiak Fire Service Area. The administration of the municipality shall not prescribe rules, procedures or guidelines to be followed in furnishing services or expending moneys that interfere with this priority unless mandated by law or emergency.
