§ 11.20.430. Horse-drawn vehicles—Insurance required.

  • A.

    No person may operate a horse-drawn vehicle for hire or transport passengers in or upon a horse-drawn vehicle for hire without being insured by one or more policies of liability insurance issued by an insurance company authorized to do business in the State of Alaska with at least the following insurance coverage:

    1.

    For all persons injured or deceased in any one accident: $300,000.00.

    2.

    For damage to property in any one accident: $25,000.00.

    3.

    For all persons injured or deceased in any one accident caused by an uninsured motorist: $100,000.00.

    B.

    The policy of liability insurance shall be approved as to substance and form by the risk manager for the municipality and filed with the Transportation Inspector.

    C.

    Every insurance policy or certificate of insurance shall contain a clause obligating the insurer or surety to give the Transportation Inspector written notice not less than 30 days before the cancellation, expiration, nonrenewal, lapse or other termination or modification of such insurance.
